Ryanair Unveils Major Expansion of Flights in Marseille

Ryanair has this week unveiled a major expansion, including new flights, out of Marseille Airport for the Summer 2024 season.

The Irish low-cost carrier continues to grow considerably in Europe, with this the latest example.

For the Summer 2024 schedule, Ryanair aims to serve 62 destinations via their flights from Marseille.

Of that 62, five of them are new, with them as follows:

  • Limoges
  • Reggio Calabria
  • Tirana
  • Wroclaw
  • Zagreb

Seven aircraft will be based in Marseille, with this broken down into three of the Boeing MAX 200 Gamechanger aircraft, and the rest the standard 737-800s.

Passenger traffic for flights out of Marseille is expected to rise by 2% to 2.9m passengers.

This will support more than 2,400 jobs across the airport directly and indirectly.

Commenting on the plans for expansion in flights from Marseille was Elena Cabrera, Ryanair’s Country Manager for France:

“As Europe’s leading airline, Ryanair is delighted to announce its record summer 2024 schedule to Marseille, with 62 destinations in total, including 5 new destinations to exceptional locations such as Limoges, Reggio Calabria, Tirana, Wroclaw, and Zagreb.”

“With 7 aircraft based in Marseille (investment of $700 million) – including 3 Boeing “Gamechanger” aircraft which reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by 16% and noise emissions by up to 40% – Ryanair will carry 2.9 million passengers this summer and will support more than 210 highly skilled jobs in aviation.”

“Ryanair continues to provide more traffic, jobs, and lower fares than any other airline in Marseille.

In conclusion, the expansion in flights from Marseille by Ryanair is another example of the airline’s growth this Summer.

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on how well received the five new routes are by their passengers.

There could very well be scope to expand the base further going into the Winter 2024 season.
