EasyJet’s Board of Directors has outlined a well-defined succession plan for their Chief Executive Officer, Johan Lundgren.

The leadership transition comes as the incumbent Mr. Lundgren prepares to step down for the leading role in early 2025.

A Smooth Transition to New CEO

Mr. Lundgren will step down as CEO in early 2025, following a successful seven-year tenure. Kenton Jarvis, who joined easyJet in February 2021, will seamlessly take over the reins as CEO.

Mr. Jarvis has served as both a Board member and the company’s Chief Financial Officer since his arrival. He will continue in his CFO role during the transition period, while a search for his successor gets underway.

Reflecting on Leadership

Sir Stephen Hester, Chair of easyJet, expressed his appreciation for Mr. Lundgren’s contributions: “We are sorry to see Johan depart easyJet. He has served as an exceptional CEO since December 2017.”

“He expertly guided the company through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Lundgren has also established a clear strategy and a robust execution plan to achieve easyJet’s ambition of becoming ‘Europe’s most loved airline’.”

“It delivered benefits for customers, shareholders, and employees alike. We remain optimistic about the future, and Johan’s continued presence throughout the remaining year will ensure a strong conclusion to 2024.”
