Etihad Airways has marked a new chapter in luxury air travel with the arrival of its iconic A380 double-decker aircraft on the Abu Dhabi – New York route.
This momentous occasion, taking place on Monday, April 22nd, introduces passengers to an unparalleled flying experience. The airline will replace one of its existing Boeing 787-9 services with the A380.
The flagship aircraft exudes luxury, from the spacious Economy cabins to the legendary three-room suite, The Residence.
Etihad Airways in the Big Apple
Following a festive send-off in Abu Dhabi, Etihad pilots proudly displayed the US and UAE flags upon arrival in New York.
Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of Etihad Airways, was upbeat on the inauguration. “We’re delighted to bring the A380 experience to New York.”

This exciting development comes just three weeks after launching a new route to Boston, solidifying Etihad’s dedication to the North American market.

Etihad is now upgrading one of its daily New York flights to the Airbus A380, featuring a dedicated welcome area in Economy Class.
Passengers can choose from 68 extra-legroom seats with increased legroom or opt for the 337 Economy Smart seats boasting Etihad’s signature comfort features.
The upper deck offers an oasis of tranquility with 70 private Business Studios™. This haven also houses The Lobby, a collaborative space designed by Armani/Casa, ideal for socializing or relaxing.
Business travelers can stay connected and productive with comprehensive Wi-Fi and exceptional amenities.
First Class Luxury Redefined
First Apartments elevate luxury travel with nine private havens. Each suite features designer tableware, a spacious leather lounge chair, and an ottoman transforming into an 80-inch lie-flat bed. Guests enjoy personal vanity units and access to an exclusive shower room.
Pinnacle of Luxury: The Residence
The Residence, the world’s only three-room suite on a commercial airliner, embodies the ultimate in luxury travel. This haven for two boasts a private living room, bedroom, and ensuite bathroom with a shower, all at 40,000 feet.
