Air Premia, South Korea’s long-haul specialist airline, has inaugurated flights between San Francisco and Incheon, further strengthening its presence in the Americas.

This new route, operating four times weekly, marks Air Premia’s third direct connection between mainland US and Korea. It builds upon the success of existing services to Los Angeles and New York.

Official Launch of San Francisco Service

An official launch ceremony was held on May 17th, 1:30 PM local time, at San Francisco International Airport. Air Premia CEO Yoo Myung-sub and esteemed guests celebrated the expansion.

Flights between San Francisco and Incheon operate Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Departures from San Francisco occur at 3:00 PM, arriving at Incheon the following day at 7:50 PM. Return flights depart Incheon at 5:30 PM, landing in San Francisco at 12:30 PM.

Air Premia Enjoys Growth

Air Premia is experiencing impressive growth. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, they transported over 671,500 passengers in 2023. Of that number, over 229,300 were carried on the Los Angeles and New York routes alone.

This translates to an 11.6% share of total passengers carried by Korean national carriers. It effectively provides travelers in the Americas with valuable new options.

The carrier is also further strengthening its existing US network. Air Premia has increased Los Angeles flights to daily service and introduced seasonal flights to Honolulu.

The expansion will significantly boost cargo operations, especially with belly cargo playing a key role. This is cargo carried in the passenger baggage hold beneath the main deck.

With nearly 60% of Air Premia’s 2023 cargo revenue originating from the Americas, the San Francisco route is poised to further solidify their cargo business.

Adding to passenger convenience, Air Premia has become the third Korean national carrier to join the TSA Pre-Check program. This further streamlines airport security procedures for US-bound travelers.

Additionally, the implementation of online check-in systems at US airports aims to improve boarding efficiency.

“The Americas are a key strategic market for Air Premia,” stated CEO Yoo Myung-sub. “We are committed to expanding our route network and flight frequency, offering a wider selection of travel options for Korean immigrants and US travelers alike.”

About Air Premia

Air Premia, South Korea’s only long-haul specialist, operates under the philosophy of being a “beloved airline” by providing high-quality, essential services at competitive prices. The carrier offers premium amenities comparable to full-service carriers (FSCs) without the high cost.

Since launching their first international flights in July 2022, Air Premia has rapidly grown, serving destinations like Los Angeles, New York, Bangkok, and Narita.

They strategically fill a gap in the market, offering long-haul routes typically not served by low-cost carriers (LCCs). Importantly, they maintain a cost-effective pricing structure compared to other full service carriers.

This aligns perfectly with the growing trend of “value-for-money travel.” As of May 17th, San Francisco joins the airline’s growing network of US destinations.
