This week, Zurich Airport has reported its May 2024 traffic figures, showcasing an increase over 2023s numbers.

Zurich May 2024 Traffic Figures
During May 2024, Zurich Airport (ZRH) catered to 2,772,182 passengers. This represents a 9% increase over May 2023s figures. Out of this 2.7 million split, 1,975,161 were local and 791,352 were transfer.
Not only this, but this means that Zurich’s passengers levels are now at 102% of what the airport saw pre-pandemic in 2019.
The reason for the 2% increase was due to Whitsun and Corpus Christi falling into May this year, which was previously in June 2019.
Friday May 17 saw the most passengers travelling through the airport of over 100,000 passengers.
Total flight movements for May 2024 come to 23,762 representing a 7% increase over May 2023, however, is still 3% below what was seen in May 2019.
Alongside this, the average passenger per movement figure has dropped to 132, a 0.3% decrease compared to May 2023. With an average seat load factor at 79%, again a 1% point decrease compared to May 2023.
In terms of the freight carried, 37,382 tonnes went through Zurich Airport in May 2024, representing a 23% increase over May 2023. However, this is still 2% below May 2019 freight levels.
The airport is home to Swiss Air Lines, with a current fleet of 88 aircraft. Broken down as, nine Airbus A220-100s, 21 Airbus A220-300s, 11 Airbus A320s, seven Airbus A320neos. As well as, six Airbus A321s, four Airbus A321neos, 14 Airbus A330-300s, four Airbus A340-300s and 12 Boeing 777-300ERs.
Swiss has the following still on order, 10 Airbus A320neos, four Airbus A321neos, and five Airbus A350-900s.
