Wizz Air UK is breaking new ground, offering the first-ever direct flight between London Gatwick and Medina, Saudi Arabia.
This significant move further expands the airline’s long haul reach. Notably, it also opens a vital cultural and religious gateway for UK travellers. The new Airbus A321XLR will operate this long-haul route, launching on August 1st.
A Milestone for UK Connectivity
Wizz Air, the second most punctual airline in the UK, actively commits to providing reliable and accessible travel. The new Medina route, utilizing the advanced Airbus A321XLR aircraft, marks the airline’s second long-range service from London Gatwick.
This aircraft’s extended range and efficiency are pivotal in facilitating travel to destinations previously considered less accessible.
Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Medina is set to welcome a surge of visitors. Wizz Air will offer over 174,000 seats annually, significantly enhancing access to this holy city, renowned for its rich religious heritage.
This increased connectivity aligns with Wizz Air’s mission to offer the most convenient and affordable travel options.
Tickets are now available on wizzair.com and the Wizz Air mobile app, with fares starting at an attractive £233.99. This affordability ensures that more people can experience the cultural and historical significance of Medina.

Strategic Growth in the Middle East
This new route underscores Wizz Air’s strategic expansion in the Middle East. The airline already boasts an extensive network in the region, including a base in Abu Dhabi, operating nearly 100 routes.
The Airbus A321XLR’s capabilities support this continued growth, allowing for efficient and comfortable long-haul travel.
