Wizz Air Confirms Milan-Abu Dhabi as First A321XLR Route

Wizz Air has confirmed Milan-Abu Dhabi as the first long-haul route which will be operated by its Airbus A321XLR aircraft.

Wizz Air, has announced the first long-haul route which will be operated by its Airbus A321XLR aircraft. The airline will launch a direct service from Milan to Abu Dhabi, utilizing the extended range narrowbody aircraft.

This move marks a further waypoint in Wizz Air’s expansion strategy and also showcases the potential of the A321XLR in transforming intercontinental travel.

Starting June 2, 2025, Wizz Air will operate daily flights between Milan Malpensa and Abu Dhabi. This seven-hour journey will be the first route to leverage the extended range capabilities of the Airbus A321XLR.

Passengers can expect fares up to 70% lower than current competitors’ offerings, making this exotic destination more accessible than ever before.

Airbus A321XLR: Single-Aisle Extended Range


The Airbus A321XLR (Extended Long Range) is the latest addition to the popular A320neo family. It boasts an impressive range of up to 4,700 nautical miles. This allows airlines the flexibility to operate long-haul flights with single-aisle efficiency.

This narrowbody aircraft combines fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, and lower operating costs. It makes it an attractive option for airlines looking to expand their route networks.

Wizz Air has placed an order for 47 A321XLR aircraft, with the first eight expected to be delivered in 2025. The airline plans to base these aircraft in Milan, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening its Italian network and expanding its reach across continents.
