WestJet has this week launched new flights from Calgary to Reykjavik, Iceland, in an exclusive service offered by the carrier.
This service has been welcomed from both the Canadian airport and the Icelandic tourist destination.
Without further ado, let’s get into it…
The New WestJet Calgary-Iceland Flights…
WestJet flights between Calgary and Reykjavik, Iceland, launched on May 15 on a four times per week basis.
The outbound flight departs the Canadian airport at 1955 local time.
It arrives into Reykjavik at 0825 local time the next day.
The return departs at 0945 local time and arrives back into the Canadian airport at 1043 local time.
Angela Avery, WestJet Group, Executive Vice-President, Chief People, Corporate and Sustainability Officer had this to say on the milestone:
“Iceland offers one of the most geologically diverse and breathtaking landscapes in the world and we are thrilled to provide convenient direct access to Reykjavik as we continue to expand our European network,”
“As the only airline providing direct connectivity between Calgary and Iceland, WestJet continues to build its presence as Canada’s leisure champion, providing our guests with unprecedented and affordable access to fulfill their travel aspirations year-round.”
The Canadian Airport Is Being Bolstered…
WestJet continues to bolster the Calgary operation significantly.
It was revealed that the airline is bolstering its European service with daily flights to both London and Paris from Calgary in the Winter.
This increased frequency caters to the ever-growing demand for European travel.
This has been notable, particularly among business travelers seeking convenient connections and leisure adventurers looking for a cultural escape.
Passengers seeking winter escapes can take advantage of doubled capacity on the Calgary to Cancun route, increasing to twice daily service.
Similarly, the frequency on the Calgary to Puerto Vallarta route will jump to daily flights, offering more options for those seeking relaxation on Mexico’s stunning Pacific coast.
Overall…
In conclusion, WestJet continues to grow it’s presence out of Calgary, especially through the addition of Reykjavik, Iceland flights.
Looking ahead, all eyes will be on how the new service performs, as well as whether there is scope to expand further.
Furthermore, with more flights on offer this Summer than last year, the Canadian carrier is currently well-positioned.
But for now, all eyes will be on how this busy period performs.
