The WestJet Group has announced significant enhancements to its transoceanic and leisure travel offering with its winter 787 scheduling
The focus is on providing passengers with a wider range of transoceanic and leisure travel options, catering to both business and vacation needs.
Calgary to Tokyo Year Round
One of the most significant changes is the news of year-round service between Calgary (YYC) and Tokyo (NRT).
This move by WestJet strengthens global tourism opportunities and solidifies Calgary’s position as a major travel hub in North America.
Previously a seasonal offering, the permanent Tokyo route signifies WestJet’s commitment to connecting Western Canada to key Asian destinations.
Passengers flying this route will benefit not only from a convenient direct connection but also from seamless travel beyond Tokyo.
WestJet’s longstanding codeshare agreement with Japan Airlines grants access to seven additional destinations, opening up a wider range of exploration options in Asia.
“This winter, WestJet will fly more than 60,000 seats between Asia and Alberta,” says John Weatherill, WestJet Group Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer.
“This route has proven to be exceptional for both leisure and business travelers, and it creates a catalyst for year-round collaboration between our economies and tourism hubs.”
Strengthened European Connections
Travelers looking to explore Europe this winter will also be delighted with WestJet’s enhanced offerings.
The airline is bolstering its European service with daily flights to both London and Paris from Calgary.
This increased frequency caters to the ever-growing demand for European travel. This has been notable, particularly among business travelers seeking convenient connections and leisure adventurers looking for a cultural escape.
“Our 787 winter schedule reflects the growing demand for year-round international options for business and leisure travelers from our global hub in Calgary to Asia, Europe, and North America,” says Weatherill.
Furthermore, WestJet’s codeshare agreement with Air France unlocks an additional 53 destinations throughout Europe, offering passengers a vast network to explore beyond London and Paris.
Leading in Leisure Travel
WestJet remains dedicated to its position as Canada’s leader in affordable leisure travel. This commitment is evident in the strategic deployment of its fuel-efficient Boeing 787 Dreamliners on popular routes to sun destinations.
Passengers seeking winter escapes can take advantage of doubled capacity on the Calgary to Cancun route, increasing to twice daily service.
Similarly, the frequency on the Calgary to Puerto Vallarta route will jump to daily flights, offering more options for those seeking relaxation on Mexico’s stunning Pacific coast.
Existing services like daily Toronto to Cancun flights and three times weekly Calgary to Honolulu flights will continue to operate, all utilizing the comfortable and spacious Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
These luxurious aircraft boast a three-cabin configuration catering to various needs, with spacious seating and in-flight entertainment systems for a truly enjoyable travel experience.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is the crown jewel of WestJet’s fleet. As the largest aircraft in their lineup, the Dreamliner offers a smooth and comfortable travel experience on long-haul routes.
With a capacity of up to 320 passengers, this aircraft provides ample space for passengers to stretch out and relax.
The three-cabin configuration caters to a variety of needs, from budget-conscious travelers seeking comfortable economy seating to those seeking a luxurious upgrade in business class.
No matter the cabin class, all passengers can enjoy the benefits of in-flight entertainment systems, ensuring a boredom-free journey.
Summary
WestJet’s revamped winter schedule promises to be a game-changer for long-haul travelers seeking convenient connections, diverse destinations, and a focus on affordability and comfort.
Whether the travel goals involve exploring vibrant Asian cultures, immersing oneself in European history, or simply escaping to a sunny beach destination.
