Virgin Atlantic is set to once again connect London Heathrow with Brussels International Airport during the upcoming winter season.
This time, however, the focus will be on air cargo, with the airline aiming to capitalize on the peak period for transporting time-sensitive goods. Currently, time-critical goods such as pharmaceuticals and perishable foodstuffs are transported from London to European hubs using truck services.
Utilizing its Airbus A330-300 and A350-1000 aircraft, Virgin Atlantic will be able to transport up to 50 tonnes of cargo per flight.
Focus on Cargo Transport
This new service, scheduled to operate from October 27, 2024, to March 29, 2025, is designed to alleviate the strain on traditional ground transportation methods, such as trucks. These services often struggle to meet the stringent delivery deadlines of perishable and pharmaceutical goods.
By offering a direct air link between Brussels and London Heathrow, Virgin Atlantic is providing businesses with a faster and more efficient way to operate. This applies to both the import and export of goods between Europe and key markets in the UK and beyond.

This isn’t the first time Virgin Atlantic has operated cargo-focused flights to Brussels. In 2021/2022, the airline partnered with Titan Airways in a similar venture.
Virgin utilized one of Titan Airways Airbus A321 freighter aircraft for similar services. Prior to this partnership, Virgin Atlantic had operated passenger flights with cargo-only cabins.
Juha Jarvinen, Chief Commercial Officer at Virgin Atlantic, expressed enthusiasm about the new service. “We are excited to resume flights to Brussels. This is a destination we are familiar with from our successful operations during the Covid-19 pandemic. This new service will offer a vital air link for the transportation of essential goods, including perishables and pharmaceuticals.”
“By leveraging our extensive route network and the efficiency of our wide-body aircraft. We will provide our customers with fast and reliable connections between Brussels and key markets around the world.”
