Uzbekistan Airways Flight HY9684 Krasnoyarsk-Tashkent…

Uzbekistan Airways flight HY9684, which suffered the hail strike, is a routine scheduled flight between Krasnoyarsk & Tashkent.

Furthermore, it is understood the aircraft involved in the incident was UK32015.

As per data from Planespotters.net, UK32015 is a 13.8 year old Airbus A320ceo that was delivered to the airline in December 2010.

Of the A320ceo variant, Uzbekistan Airways has 11 of them in their fleet.

Within that 11, all but now one are in active service, with an average fleet age of 12.9 years.

Moreover, as well as the A320ceo, the airline has the following other aircraft in their fleet:

– 10 Airbus A320neos.
– 5 Airbus A321s.
– 2 Airbus A330s.
– 8 Boeing 767s.
– 7 Boeing 787 Dreamliners

Uzbekistan Airways flight HY9684, which suffered the hail strike, departed Krasnoyarsk at 1409 local time on August 3 and tracked south-westerly towards Tashkent.

As per reporting from The Aviation Herald, it is understood the hail strike happened at cruise.

The aircraft was cruising at 36,000 feet when this happened.

Despite this, the crew continued on to it’s destination, where they landed without further incident at 1538 local time.

Aircraft Is Grounded for Repairs…

Data from RadarBox.com highlights that UK32015, the Uzbekistan Airways A320 involved in the incident involving a hail strike on HY9684 Krasnoyarsk-Tashkent has remained grounded since.

Two days on, it is unclear how long it will take to make the relevant repairs to the aircraft.

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on when the aircraft will be able to return to commercial service.

If the damage is too severe, then the airline may opt for a write-off of the jet, but time will tell.
