United Airlines is building on its record-breaking summer, which saw 48 million travelers travel with the carrier. Off the back of this success, United is now launching its most ambitious winter schedule yet.
The airline will operate about 4,600 daily flights during peak season, expanding service across more than 140 U.S. airports. United is anticipating its busiest ever winter season amid rising international demand. In response, it will inaugurate service to four new international destinations
International Travel Takes Center Stage
With soaring demand for international flights, particularly to Latin America and across the Atlantic, United expects this winter to set new passenger records.
The expansion kicks off with two milestone routes: Newark/New York to Marrakesh launches October 24. Meanwhile, service between Tokyo/Narita and Cebu, Philippines – unique among U.S. carriers – begins October 27.
Later in the season, United will connect Houston to Medellin, Colombia and Newark/New York to Dominica.
“We’re expanding our flight options to give travelers unprecedented destination choices,” says Patrick Quayle, United’s Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances. “From overseas adventures to sunny beaches and premier ski resorts, we’re making winter getaways more accessible than ever.”
Breaking New Ground in Africa
United is set to operate its largest-ever African network this winter. The new Newark/New York to Marrakesh service will operate three times weekly on a Boeing 767-300ER. This makes United the only airline offering direct U.S.-Marrakesh flights.
This expansion, combined with the upcoming Washington Dulles-Dakar route launching May 2025, will give United the most extensive African network among U.S. carriers.
Additional African routes include increased weekly services from Washington D.C. to both Accra, Ghana (starting October) and Lagos, Nigeria (starting December).
Extended European Service
Following record European summer travel, United will maintain service to key destinations in Greece, Spain, Italy, and Portugal. Winter peak capacity will exceed levels seen in 2023 and 2024.
The airline is extending several seasonal routes through December 2024, including service from Chicago O’Hare to both Milan and Rome. It will also include flights from Washington Dulles to Madrid. Additionally, daily flights between Washington Dulles and Lisbon will continue through January 2025.
Pacific Region Expansion
United’s Pacific presence grows significantly with new daily flights connecting Tokyo/Narita and Cebu starting October 27.
The airline is also making its second daily San Francisco-Seoul service a year-round offering. Service between Los Angeles and Hong Kong will see an additional daily flight. In addition, Los Angeles-Shanghai routes will operate daily beginning October 26.
Latin American Growth and Caribbean
United projects nearly 10% growth in Latin America this winter, introducing new routes from Houston to Medellin starting November 13.
The airline will become the only carrier offering nonstop service from the Northeast to Dominica beginning February 15.
San Francisco will gain new connections to both Monterrey, Mexico and Belize City. Caribbean service improvements include earlier launch of St. Kitts flights and year-round extension of Bermuda routes.
Domestic Market Strengthening
Closer to home, the January-March domestic schedule will be United Airlines largest ever, with increased service across nearly 140 airports. Warm-weather destinations will see approximately 13% more seats, particularly to Phoenix, Palm Springs, and San Diego.
New nonstop service will connect Washington Dulles to both Salt Lake City and Palm Springs. Florida service will expand with 20 additional hub airport departures. Meanwhile, Cleveland regains its popular connections to Cancun and several Florida destinations.
