United Airlines flight UA6136 declared the emergency from cruising flight before making a rapid descent and diversion into nearby Brownsville/South Padre Island International Airport (BRO). Flight crew squawked emergency transponder code 7700 as the decent and diversion was initiated.

Following the expedited descent, and approach was made to runway 13R Brownsville/South Padre Island International Airport. The nature of the emergency prompting the diversion has not yet been confirmed.
