A United Airlines flight bound for Boston from Houston was forced to make an emergency landing in Washington D.C. on Sunday, July 28, due to a biohazard situation onboard.
The incident occurred after a passenger fell ill, leading to multiple crew members experiencing symptoms such as vomiting.

Out of an abundance of caution, the flight crew decided to divert the aircraft to Washington Dulles International Airport.
Once on the ground, the plane underwent a thorough deep cleaning to ensure the safety of all passengers and crew. No injuries were reported among the 155 passengers and six crew members.

United Airlines flight UA2477 had made an on-time departure out of George Bush Intercontinental Houston airport (IAH) at 0939 local time on 28 July.
The flight, bound for Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) subsequently initiated a diversion to Washington Dulles (WAD) following the in-flight biohazard incident.
The flight then landed at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) at 1336 local time.
United Airlines issued a statement confirming the incident and apologized for the inconvenience caused to passengers.
The airline also confirmed that the flight then resumed its journey to Boston after the cleaning was completed.
The aircraft conducting the UA2477 service to Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) was a Boeing 737-800, registered N18243.
This is a 24.8-year-old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier United Airlines. It has been operational service with the airline since October 2010.
While the exact nature of the United Airlines biohazard remains unclear, incidents like these highlight the importance of stringent health and safety protocols in the aviation industry.
