A United Airlines flight en route to Newark, NJ from Tokyo diverted to Anchorage after reporting a fuel leak on 18 April 2025.
United Airlines flight UA130, a Boeing 777-200, was en route from Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND). The aircraft was performing a scheduled service bound for Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR).

While in cruising flight over the northern Pacific Ocean, flight crew reported a fuel leak from the aircraft’s right-hand side. The aircraft was on flight plan track approximately 400 nautical miles to the south of Anchorage at the time of the discovery.
As a result, flight crew elected to divert to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) as a precaution.

The flight landed without further incident on runway 15 Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. According to the online source Aviation Herald, flight crew shut down the aircraft’s right-hand engine after landing. They were able to vacate the active runway and taxi to the apron hard standing area.
The onwards scheduled service to Newark was cancelled as a result of the serviceability.

Flight data shows that flight UA130 made an on-time departure out of Tokyo Haneda Airport at 1740 local time on 18 April.
Following departure, the flight had set course normally for Newark, climbing to flight level FL330 for the Pacific Ocean crossing.
The flight was at cruising altitude when the decision to divert to Anchorage was made.
