United Airlines Announces New Non-Stop Flights New York/Newark to Dominica

Operated by United Airlines, a new nonstop service from New York Newark Liberty from February 2025 will become Dominica's second US connection.

Dominica, the picturesque Caribbean island, is set to welcome a significant boost to its tourism industry with the announcement of a new United Airlines non-stop flight from New York/Newark to Douglas-Charles Airport.

Operated by United Airlines, this service will commence on February 15, 2025, offering Saturday flights from Newark Liberty International Airport.

Second US Route to Dominica


This marks a major milestone for Dominica, as it becomes the second direct flight route between the United States and the island.

The introduction of this service comes on the heels of substantial upgrades to the island’s infrastructure. This has involved a runway extension, grooving, and terminal enhancements. These improvements are designed to accommodate larger aircraft, enhance safety, and increase operational efficiency.

Dominica’s Minister of Tourism, Hon. Denise Charles-Pemberton, expressed her enthusiasm for this new development. She said that it aligns perfectly with the island’s ambitious development goals. She emphasized the route’s potential to alleviate previous access constraints and stimulate economic growth.

The new flight will provide a significant convenience for travelers from the tri-state area, one of Dominica’s primary source markets. The island will see the addition of nearly 500 new hotel rooms by 2025. As development continues, Dominica is poised to experience a record-breaking travel season.

Discover Dominica Authority’s CEO, Ms. Marva Williams, highlighted the service’s potential to attract more travelers. She said that it would enable tour operators to offer group travel packages. She emphasized Dominica’s unique offerings, including world-class diving, hiking, wellness, and cultural experiences.

Coinciding with the launch of the new flight, Dominica will host its iconic Mas Domnik Carnival on March 3-4, 2025. Known for its traditional customs, calypso music, and exciting festivities, this event will showcase the island’s vibrant culture.

United Airlines’ Vice President of International Network, Matt Stevens, offered comment for the airline. He expressed the airline’s pride in partnering with Dominica to add this beautiful destination to its global route network.

He emphasized the carrier’s commitment to providing customers with unique travel experiences. The airline continues its focus on expanding its reach to diverse destinations around the world.

The new flight will not only benefit Dominica’s tourism industry but also strengthen the island’s connectivity to the United States. The new service will stimulate economic growth, create jobs, and enhance Dominica’s reputation as a desirable travel destination.
