Twin Cities: Lufthansa Launches Service to Minneapolis-St. Paul

Lufthansa's new non-stop service between Frankfurt, Germany and Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota commenced operations on 5 June 2024.

Lufthansa’s new non-stop service between Frankfurt, Germany and Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota is now operational.

Launched this week, the convenient route grants year-round access to Germany and the vast Lufthansa Group network. It opens up broader travel possibilities for residents of the Twin Cities.

“We’re delighted to connect Minneapolis-Saint Paul and all of Minnesota with our Frankfurt hub,” said Dirk Janzen, Vice President Passenger Sales for Lufthansa Group in the Americas.

“This direct link offers seamless travel to Lufthansa Group’s extensive European and global network.”

Janzen emphasized the importance of this route for Lufthansa’s North American expansion plans, particularly within the key U.S. market.

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner Operations

The new service operates five times weekly using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, featuring 30 Business Class seats for a luxurious travel experience, 21 Premium Economy seats offering increased legroom and comfort, and 215 Economy Class seats.

The Boeing 787-9 boasts impressive fuel efficiency, consuming up to 30% less kerosene than previous models.

This translates to a significant reduction in emissions, aligning with Lufthansa’s commitment to a sustainable future in aviation.

Passengers will also appreciate the Boeing 787-9’s industry-leading window size, offering breathtaking views even from the middle seat.

And for added comfort, the window shades are electronically adjustable, allowing you to create your perfect in-flight ambiance.

Inflight Experience

Beyond the impressive aircraft, Lufthansa is renowned for its exceptional passenger service. Whether you’re flying in Business, Premium Economy, or Economy Class, you can expect comfortable seating, attentive cabin crew, and a variety of complimentary amenities.

This includes meals and beverages tailored to your destination, along with an extensive entertainment system featuring the latest movies, TV shows, and music.

For those seeking an even more luxurious travel experience, Business Class offers lie-flat seats, priority boarding and baggage handling, access to airport lounges, and a selection of gourmet meals and beverages.

Premium Economy provides increased legroom and wider seats compared to Economy Class, for a more relaxing journey.

26th US Gateway

With the addition of Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Lufthansa Group now serves 26 U.S. gateways, providing roughly 400 weekly flights during the summer season.

They are dedicated to continuously expanding their North American network, with several new routes launched in summer 2024.

These include a non-stop Seattle-Munich service, increased Washington D.C. capacity with an A380 from Munich, and an upcoming Raleigh-Durham to Frankfurt route starting June 6th.

Additionally, SWISS, a Lufthansa Group member, recently began flights to Washington D.C. and Toronto.

Lufthansa prioritizes easy worldwide connectivity for its customers, and the Minneapolis-Saint Paul route exemplifies this commitment.

Passengers will not only benefit from the direct link to Frankfurt, but also gain access to the extensive global network offered by Lufthansa Group, which includes Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, and Discover.

Code-share agreements with United Airlines and Air Canada further expand travel options through the Atlantic Joint Venture.

While Europe is a natural first thought for many travelers departing from Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Lufthansa Group’s network extends far beyond.

Passengers can connect seamlessly to popular destinations in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, with a convenient layover in Frankfurt.
