National flag carrier Turkish Airlines has further bolstered its fleet with an agreement for six Airbus A321neo aircraft. In a recent announcement, BOC Aviation revealed the placement of six narrowbody A321neo aircraft with Turkish Airlines. Delivery scheduling is now set for 2027 for the leased aircraft.
Established in 1933, Turkish Airlines has evolved into one of the world’s leading airlines, boasting a fleet of 477 passenger and cargo aircraft that serve 349 destinations in 130 countries.
With a focus on continuous improvement and innovation, the airline has consistently sought out the latest aircraft technology to enhance its operations and deliver exceptional service to its customers.
The addition of six Airbus A321neo aircraft, scheduled for delivery in 2027, also furthers the strong relationship between Turkish Airlines and lessor BOC Aviation.
Steven Townend, CEO and Managing Director of BOC Aviation, highlighted the significance of this transaction. “Turkish Airlines is one of our longest standing customers, and this agreement is a testament to the breadth of that relationship.”
“There is strong demand for these latest technology aircraft from our orderbook, and that will underpin our growth in the next few years.”
Turkish Airlines Fleet Expansion Strategy
The acquisition furthers the airline’s ongoing expansion and network enhancement efforts.
Turkish Airlines has an ambitious fleet expansion strategy, aiming to grow its fleet to over 800 aircraft by 2033. This expansion is driven by the airline’s goal of increasing its passenger numbers. It maintains a focus on solidifying its position as a global carrier.
The carrier has placed significant orders for both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft from both Airbus and Boeing. This includes a historic order of up to 355 state-of-the-art Airbus aircraft in December 2023.
While wide-body aircraft will remain a crucial focus, the majority of the fleet expansion will be in narrow-body aircraft. This will include both the Airbus A320 family and Boeing 737 family.
Levent Konukcu, Chief Investment & Strategy Officer at Turkish Airlines, expressed the airline’s enthusiasm for this partnership. “We are pleased to enhance our long-standing relationship with BOC Aviation with the addition of these six new Airbus A321neo aircraft.”
“This transaction further contributes to Turkish Airlines’ mission of offering a modern and efficient travel experience to its guests. It further expands and enhances the route network. We look forward to continuing our close partnership with the BOC Aviation team in the future.”
