It has emerged that Turkish Airlines flight TK3 between Istanbul & New York had to divert to Keflavik today due to an engine failure.
Information has been released pertinent to the incident at hand, which we will get into in this article.

Turkish Airlines TK3 Istanbul to New York…
Turkish Airlines flight TK3, which diverted to Keflavik with an engine failure, is a routine scheduled flight between Istanbul and New York JFK.
Furthermore, the aircraft involved in the incident was TC-JJF.
As per data from Planespotters.net, TC-JJF is a 13.9 year old Boeing 777-300ER that was delivered to the airline in October 2010.
Of the 777-300ER variant, Turkish Airlines has 36 of them in their fleet.
Moreover, of that 36, all of them are in active service, with an average fleet age of 11.3 years.
As well as the 777-300ER, the airline has the following other aircraft in their mainline fleet:
- 6 Airbus A319s.
- 12 Airbus A320s.
- 113 Airbus A321s.
- 58 Airbus A330s.
- 23 Airbus A350s.
- 80 Boeing 737s.
- 8 Boeing 777 Freighters.
- 23 Boeing 787s.
Turkish Airlines flight TK3, which diverted to Keflavik with an engine failure as per The Aviation Herald, departed Istanbul at 0800 local time today and tracked west initially to New York JFK.
Data from RadarBox highlights that the Boeing 777 was nearly halfway across the Atlantic Ocean, before deviating north towards Iceland.
After six hours and 48 minutes in the air, the aircraft landed safely without further incident.
Aircraft Grounded Following Engine Failure in Keflavik…
Following the diversion to Keflavik by Turkish Airlines flight TK3 Istanbul-New York, TC-JJF remains grounded in Keflavik following the engine failure.
Furthermore, the extent of the failure is unclear at this present moment, including information about damage.
As soon as we have more information pertinent to updates surrounding the aircraft’s return to service, we will update you accordingly.
