A TUI flight inbound to Manchester from Bridgetown, Barbados has declared an emergency after holding near Liverpool.
TUI flight BY179, operated by a Boeing 787-8, declared an emergency with squawk code 7700 after holding near the destination and has diverted to Dublin.
TUI flight BY179 declared the emergency with squawk code 7700 at 0800 UTC after an extended period of holding in the Liverpool region. The flight is one of a number of scheduled services that has been unable to land at the destination due to weather conditions.
Manchester Airport (MAN) has had its runways closed this morning due to heavy snowfalls. The airport issued a notification via its social media channels earlier, advising that snow clearing was in progress.

TUI flight BY179 had now landed at Dublin Airport (DUB) after declaring a low fuel emergency priority earlier this morning. The flight had arrived from Sir Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI), Barbados. It was unable to land at Manchester Airport due current inclement weather conditions.
The aircraft conducting the BY179 service from Bridgetown was a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, registered G-TUIC. This is an 11.6 year old widebody aircraft belonging t the carrier TUI Airways.
