G-TUIJ is the aircraft involved in the emergency.
As per data from Planespotters, G-TUIJ is a 8.1 year old Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner that was delivered to the airline in June 2016 under the Thomson Airways brand.
Of the 787-9 variant, BY has five of them in their fleet, with an average fleet age of 6.0 years.
Return to Cancun Most Likely…
BY49 will no doubt be returning to Cancun following this emergency declaration.
Again, still no indication on the cause just yet.

TUI flight BY49, operated by the Boeing 787 and originally bound for London Gatwick, is continuing to track back towards Cancun at FL255.
It is unclear whether the aircraft will enter holds to burn fuel or not.
