A TUI fly Belgium Boeing 737 MAX 8 return to Brussels after debris suspected to have come from the aircraft was discovered on a taxiway on runway on 27 January 2025.
TUI flight TB3465, operated by a Boeing 737 MAX 8, had conducted a departure from runway 25R Brussels Airport (BRU). The aircraft was performing a scheduled service bound for Oran Es Senia Airport (ORN), Algeria.

After departure, the flight was at cruising level when ATC informed flight crew that debris had been found on a taxiway on runway at Brussels Airport. It was suspected that the debris had originated from the TUI aircraft.
Flight crew elected to make a precautionary return to Brussels, and prepared the passenger cabin for an emergency landing. The flight subsequently landed without further incident on runway 25R Brussels Airport, approximately 90 minutes after its initial departure.

According to the Aviation Herald, a French Air Force training flight conducted an inspection of the aircraft’s landing gear as it approached Brussels Airport. Following the visual aerial inspection, they advised that they were not able to determine anything unusual with the landing gear.
A subsequent post flight inspection of the aircraft did not reveal any damage or problem with the aircraft. The aircraft was deemed serviceable, but the flight was delayed until the next day as the flight crew headed exceeded duty time limits.

Flight data shows that flight TB3465 had departed from Brussels Airport at 1415 local time on 27 January. Following departure, the flight had set course normally for Oran, climbing to flight level FL340.
The diversion was initiated as the flight transited French airspace to cruising level.

The aircraft conducting the TB3465 service to Oran, Algeria was a Boeing 737 MAX 8, registered OO-MAX. This is a 7.1 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier TUI fly Belgium.
It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in January 2018.
