Transavia Flight TO3691 Larnaca-Paris Diverts to Venice

Transavia flight TO3691, a B737-800 operating from Larnaca to Paris-Orly, declared an emergency before diverting to Venice on 3 September.

A Transavia flight operating between Larnaca and Paris declared an emergency before diverting to Venice on 3 September 2024.

Transavia flight TO3691, a Boeing 737-800 outbound from Larnaca International Airport (LCA) declared an emergency with transponder code 7700. The flight was approaching Italian airspace en route to Paris Orly airport at the time of the declaration.

Having declared the emergency from cruising flight, flight crew then elected to make a diversion into nearby Venice Marco Polo Airport (VCE).

Flight Details


Flight data shows that Transavia flight TO3691 made a departure from Larnaca at 1357 local time on 3 September. The flight then set course normally, climbing to flight level FL360 (36,000 feet) for the north-westerly route to Paris.

Approaching Italian airspace, the flight then commenced a diversion and descent for nearby Venice Marco Polo Airport. Transponder code 7700 was squawked at 1350 UTC as the aircraft continued its descent through FL310.

The nature of the emergency prompting the off-track diversion is not yet known. The aircraft conducting the TO3691 service to Paris Orly airport was a Boeing 737-800, registered F-HUYU. This is a 13.5 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier Transavia.

It has been in operation service with the airline since May 2023. Prior to its service with the present carrier it was operated by TUIfly and ArkeFly since its initial delivery in March 2011.

ArkeFly was a Dutch charter airline that operated from 2002 to 2011. It was a subsidiary of TUI Nederland, a major travel company. Transavia is a Dutch low-cost airline and a wholly owned subsidiary of KLM and part of the Air France-KLM group. The airline serves numerous European cities and popular holiday destinations.
