A Transavia flight departing Rotterdam for Malaga has declared an emergency shortly after takeoff.
Transavia flight HV5021, operated by a Boeing 737-800, declared a general emergency with squawk code 7700 and is currently making good a return to Rotterdam.

Transavia flight HV5021 is a scheduled service, originally bound for Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport (AGP). Flight data shows that the aircraft terminated its climb at 3,000 feet shortly after takeoff from Rotterdam Airport earlier this morning.
Flight crew then squawked transponder code 7700 at 06:08 UTC before initiating a return. Flight crew are now maintaining a holding pattern at 3,000 feet in the vicinity of Rotterdam Airport.

Flight HV5021 has now exited the holding procedure near Rotterdam Airport, and now appears to be making good a diversion to Amsterdam (AMS), maintaining 3,000 feet.

Flight HV5021 is now on final approach to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS), maintaining squawk code 7000 for emergency priority landing.

Having declared an emergency shortly after departure from Rotterdam earlier this morning, Transavia flight HV5021 has now landed runway 18L Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS).
The nature of the emergency prompting the diversion is not yet known.

The aircraft conducting this morning’s HV5021 rotation to Malaga was a Boeing 737-800, registered PH-HBM. This is a 15.1 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier Transavia. It has been in operational service with the airline since March 2023. The airframe has passed through the hands of several carriers since its initial factory delivery in March 2010 to Pegasus Airlines.
