Tassili Airlines Dash 8-400 Bursts Tyre on Landing in Oran

A Tassili Airlines de Havilland Dash 8-400 operating a regional service from Algiers to Oran, Algeria suffered a burst tyre on landing on 5 August 2024.

Tassili Airlines flight SF2022 had completed an inbound service from Algiers Houari Boumediene Airport (ALG).

The twin turboprop aircraft had conducted an approach and landing on RWY25L Oran Ahmed Ben Bella Airport (ORD).

During the landing phase the aircraft suffered a burst tyre. According to the Aviation Herald, the aircraft was able to continue its onward the service as flight SF2353 to Adrar, Algeria.

Maintenance crew replaced the tyre at Oran, and the aircraft continued with the onward service following a delay of approximately 3.5 hours.

The aircraft conducting the SF2202 regional service from Algiers was a de Havilland Dash 8-400, registered 7T-VCN. This is a 17.1 year old twin turboprop regional commuter aircraft belonging to the carrier Tassili Airlines.

It has been an operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in September 2007.

Tassili Airlines is an Algerian passenger airline headquartered in Algiers. It’s owned by Sonatrach, the national state-owned oil company of Algeria.

History

Originally a joint venture between Air Algérie and Sonatrach, the airline became fully owned by Sonatrach in 2005. Since then, it has expanded its route network and joined the African Airlines Association (AFRAA).  

Services

Tassili Airlines offers a mix of scheduled and charter flights. While its primary focus is on domestic travel within Algeria, it also operates flights to a few international destinations, primarily in France.
