Tassili Airlines B737-800 Suffers 2 Burst Tyres on Landing in El Oued

A Tassili Airlines B737-800 operating a service from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to El Oued, Algeria suffered two burst maingear tyres on landing on 29 December.

A Tassili Airlines Boeing 737-800 operating a service from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia to El Oued, Algeria suffered to burst tyres on landing at the destination on 29 December 2024.

Tassili Airlines flight SF5563, operated by a Boeing 737-800, had conducted a departure from King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED), Jeddah. The aircraft was conducting a scheduled service to Guemar Airport (ELU), El Oued in Algeria.

On arriving at the destination, the aircraft was cleared for an approach to runway 13 Guemar Airport.

During the landing, the aircraft burst both right-hand main gear tyres. Following the tyre burst incident, the aircraft continued the landing roll. It then became disabled on the active runway.

Flight Details


Available flight data shows that the flight SF5563 had made a departure from King Abdulaziz International Airport at 0444 local time on 29 December.

Following the departure, the flight had proceeded normally, climbing to flight level FL360 for the north-westerly service to Algeria.

Descent and approach procedures were similarly conducted normally, with the flight being cleared to land on runway 13.

The aircraft conducting the SF5563 service from Jeddah was a Boeing 737-800, registered 7T-VCE. This is a 6.4 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier Tassili Airlines. It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in September 2018.

Tassili Airlines is an Algerian passenger airline headquartered in Algiers. It was founded in 1998 and commenced operations in 1999.

The airline is primarily focused on domestic flights within Algeria, although it also operates some international flights to France. Tassili Airlines is a subsidiary of Sonatrach, the national state-owned oil company of Algeria.

Tassili Airlines operates a fleet of 15 aircraft, consisting of Boeing 737-800s and Bombardier Dash 8-Q200s and Dash 8-Q400s.
