TAP Air Portugal Launches New Service to Florianópolis, Brazil

TAP Air Portugal expands its Brazilian network with a new route to Florianópolis, becoming the only European carrier operating direct flights

TAP Air Portugal expands its Brazilian network with a new route to Florianópolis. This is the capital of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil.

Starting September 3rd, 2024, travelers will see three weekly flights between Lisbon and Florianópolis-Hercílio Luz International Airport. This effectively makes TAP the only European airline offering a direct connection.

This latest network addition marks TAP’s 12th destination in Brazil, solidifying its commitment to the South American nation.

The new route also strengthens Portugal’s position as a convenient gateway for Brazilians seeking connections to over 50 European destinations on TAP’s network.

Airbus A330 Operations

TAP’s Airbus A330-200 aircraft will operate the Florianópolis route, offering passengers a comfortable journey. The flight provides a choice of 244 seats in Economy Class and 25 in Business Class.

With a flight time of approximately 11 hours, travelers can be soaking up the sun on Florianópolis’ beautiful beaches in no time.

Flights between Lisbon and Florianópolis operate Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Departures from Lisbon are scheduled between 10:10 AM and 10:50 AM. Flights arrive in Florianópolis between 5:15 PM and 5:55 PM local time.

Return flights depart from Santa Catarina’s capital between 7:35 PM and 8:40 PM. The return service arrives in Lisbon between 9:50 AM and 10:55 AM the following day.

TAP has strategically timed these flights to allow for easy connections onto its extensive UK and Ireland network. This includes flights to London Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, and Dublin.

Maintaining Strong Brazil Connections

The Florianópolis route ensures TAP maintains its robust flight schedule during the European summer, despite the temporary suspension of flights to Porto Alegre due to weather conditions.

This summer, TAP offers an impressive 95 weekly flights between Lisbon and Brazil, averaging over 13 departures per day from 11 Brazilian state capitals.

TAP’s existing Brazilian network includes direct flights from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belém, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Fortaleza, Natal, Maceió, Porto Alegre, Recife, and Salvador to Lisbon.

These routes connect seamlessly with TAP’s existing flights between Porto, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro.

With the addition of Florianópolis, TAP now serves 12 Brazilian cities, totaling 14 routes from a combination of Lisbon and Porto.

For a decade running, TAP has been recognized for its exceptional service. The airline received the World Travel Award for Europe’s Leading Airline to South America for 10 consecutive years.

Additionally, TAP was awarded the MICE Award for Best European Airline.
