TAP Air Portugal is expanding its transatlantic network with two new routes connecting Portugal directly with Boston and Los Angeles.

The airline will launch flights from Lisbon to Los Angeles and from Porto to Boston, offering travelers enhanced connectivity and travel options.

Lisbon-Los Angeles

The Lisbon to Los Angeles route will commence on 16 May 2025, initially operating three times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Starting 26 May, the frequency will increase to four weekly flights with the addition of Saturday services, continuing until 25 October.

Outbound flights depart Lisbon at 09:55, arriving in Los Angeles at 14:40 after a 12-hour and 45-minute journey. Return flights leave Los Angeles at 16:40 and land at Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport at 12:00 the next day, with a flight duration of 11 hours and 20 minutes.

The route will be served by an Airbus A330-900 aircraft, accommodating 298 passengers.

Porto-Boston

Porto to Boston flights will begin on 14 May 2025, operating four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays until 25 October.

Departing Porto at 18:05, these flights arrive in Boston at 20:30 after a seven-hour and 25-minute journey. Return flights leave Boston at 23:00 and land in Porto at 10:35 the following day, with a flight time of six hours and 35 minutes.

The route will be operated by an Airbus A321-Long Range aircraft, with a capacity of 168 passengers.

Terceira Island Stopover

An additional noteworthy development comes on 3 June 2025. TAP will introduce a weekly stopover on Terceira Island for its Lisbon to San Francisco flight. This new routing will provide a direct connection between the Azores and California. It seeks to cater to the significant Azorean community residing in the region.

Currently, TAP’s US network includes flights from Lisbon to seven airports. These include New York, Newark, Boston, Miami, Washington DC, San Francisco, and Chicago. It supports an additional route from Porto to Newark.
