As the aircraft was established on the outbound track, flight crew terminated the climb procedure at flight level FL210 (21,000 feet).
A descent was then initiated, and flight crew transmitted squawk code 7700 whilst in an orbit manoeuvre passing through FL120. A direct track was then made for Casablanca and a diversion was expedited, maintaining the priority emergency squawk code.
The nature of the problem prompting the emergency declaration and early diversion is not yet known. The flight subsequently landed at Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN).
