Sun Country Airlines (NASDAQ: SNCY) has unveiled a vibrant new aircraft livery, a testament to its deep-rooted partnership with the University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Athletics.
This also marks a significant milestone for the airline, as it’s the first time a custom design has graced its fleet of 43 passenger planes.
The striking livery, adorned with the iconic Minnesota Block M and the team’s signature Maroon and Gold colors. It serves as a visual representation of Sun Country’s commitment to Gopher Athletics.

As the Official Airline of Gopher Athletics since 2023, Sun Country has been an integral part of the university’s athletic success. It has now provided charter services for nearly 500 team flights since 2012.
Grant Whitney, Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer at Sun Country Airlines gave comment on the custom aircraft rollout. “We are incredibly proud to unveil this aircraft design. It is a symbol of our hometown pride and our enduring partnership with Gopher Athletics,” he said.

Mike Wierzbicki, Minnesota Senior Associate Athletic Director, echoed this sentiment. “This is a tremendous moment for two proud Minnesota institutions.”

Aircraft Debut at Duke’s Mayo Bowl
The customized aircraft, a Boeing 737-800 with tail number 809, is set to make its debut on December 30th. It will transport the Gopher football team to the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina.
This high-profile event will provide a national platform to showcase the new livery. It will further solidify the partnership between Sun Country and Gopher Athletics.
“Customers and Gopher fans alike will have the opportunity to see this distinctive aircraft on numerous routes throughout our network,” added Whitney.
“Our longstanding history with Gopher Athletics presented the perfect opportunity to create a custom livery. It will resonate with our community and generate excitement for both organizations.”
