SpiceJet Partners with StandardAero to Revive Boeing MAX Fleet

SpiceJet has partnered with US engine specialist StandardAero Inc. to restore its grounded Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft to operational service.

SpiceJet has partnered with StandardAero Inc., a U.S. engine maintenance provider and certified CFM LEAP-1B Premier MRO partner, to restore its grounded Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft to service.

This strategic partnership follows successful negotiations with CFM International, Inc., the LEAP-1B engine manufacturer, and the MAX aircraft lessor. The collaboration aims to return three Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to active service by April 2025.

Restoration of 737 MAX Fleet


StandardAero is now set to play a crucial role in restoring SpiceJet’s grounded Boeing 737-8 MAX fleet to active service.

This landmark collaboration follows successful negotiations with CFM International, Inc. This is the original manufacturer of LEAP-1B engines, and the lessor of the 737 MAX aircraft.

The comprehensive agreement sets a clear timeline for returning three Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to operational status. The plan will see the aircraft return to line duties by April 2025. This will mark a significant waypoint in SpiceJet’s fleet revival journey.

The partnership represents a cornerstone of SpiceJet’s strategic fleet restoration initiative. It is designed to enhance operational efficiency and support the airline’s ambitious expansion plans.

Under the terms of the global arrangement, CFM International has committed to providing essential materials and comprehensive support services for the LEAP-1B engine restoration program.

Progress in Fleet Restructuring Efforts


Recent months have seen remarkable progress in SpiceJet’s fleet restructuring efforts. The airline has successfully resolved long-standing disputes with numerous prominent lessors. These include Export Development Canada, Engine Lease Finance Corporation, Babcock & Brown Aircraft Management, Aircastle (Ireland), Wilmington Trust SP Services (Dublin) Limited, Shannon Engine Support Limited, and Genesis.

These resolutions highlight SpiceJet’s keen focus on strengthening its operational foundation and financial stability.

Regaining Market Position


The airline has implemented a multi-faceted approach to fleet restoration, placing strong emphasis on network expansion, enhanced customer satisfaction, and improved operational reliability.

The reintroduction of these fuel-efficient aircraft will substantially strengthen SpiceJet’s market position in the highly competitive aviation sector.

The carrier has already demonstrated significant progress by launching over 50 new flights in recent months, and the return of these aircraft will further accelerate this growth trajectory.

StandardAero’s expertise in LEAP engine maintenance is well-established in the industry. The company achieved a notable milestone by securing the first North American non-airline CFM Branded Service Agreement for both LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines in March 2023.
