“Over the past few months, we have seen an increase in safety events”.

“Meaningful work is underway to address these events and advance our safety.”

Also, it is understood that this has come off the back of an audit made by the Federal Aviation Administration following multiple incidents.

Furthermore, it is also understood that Southwest Airlines has held listening sessions with pilots and has released new mandatory training as well.

There have been a few safety scares over the course of this year with Southwest Airlines, which has resulted in this move for more training to take place with their pilots.

Back in April, one of the airline’s flights plunged 400 feet at low altitude in Hawaii and nearly crashed into the ocean.

Furthermore, in June, a similar incident happened in Oklahoma City, and again in July in Tampa.

These incidents caused concern with the FAA and the airline directly.

It prompted an audit and the appropriate actions we have seen released.

In conclusion, it is a positive move from Southwest Airlines.

Such additional training of pilots will help stem these safety infractions that have taken place this year.

Looking ahead, it will be interesting to see whether this will be effective.

In the meantime, all we can di is wait and see what happens with this.
