In the last few moments, a SkyWest E175 operating an Alaska Airlines flight from Los Angeles declared an emergency not long after a failed landing attempt in Eugene.
Information is limited surrounding this incident, but below is what we know on this so far.

SkyWest/Alaska Airlines Flight AS3352 – Los Angeles to Eugene…
SkyWest (SKW)/Alaska Airlines (ASA) flight AS3352, which declared an emergency, is a routine scheduled flight between Los Angeles and Eugene.
The aircraft involved in the incident is N199SY.
As per data from Planespotters.net, N199SY is a 6.1 year old Embraer E170 that was delivered to SkyWest in June 2018.
On the same day as delivery, it was handed over to the Alaska Airlines register.
Of the E175 variant, SKW has 248 of them in their extensive fleet.
Furthermore, of that 248, all but five are in active service, with an average fleet age of 6.3 years.
As well as the E175 variant, the carrier also has:
- 154 Bombardier CRJ-100 Series aircraft.
- 131 Bombardier CRJ-700 Series aircraft.
- 44 Bombardier CRJ-900 Series aircraft.
SkyWest/Alaska Airlines flight AS3352 departed Los Angeles at 0816 local time today (July 2) and climbed out to Eugene.
Everything was normal in the flight until the landing part of the flight.
After a failed landing attempt at it’s destination, the aircraft circled around for another attempt.
Furthermore, it was during this process that the crew onboard opted to declare an emergency.
On it’s second attempt, SkyWest/Alaska Airlines flight AS3352 from Los Angeles, which declared an emergency, landed safely without further incident at 1046 local time.
Reason Unclear At This Present Time…
The reason for the emergency onboard SkyWest/Alaska Airlines flight AS3352 Los Angeles-Eugene is unknown.
What we do know is that the aircraft was able to vacate the runway after it’s emergency landing.
As soon as we gather more information pertinent to this incident, then we will update you accordingly.

Cause of the Emergency Established…
Following the publication of this article, the cause of the emergency has been established.
As per The Aviation Herald, it is understood the cause was due to tyre damage and an unsafe gear that also caused damage to the aircraft’s electricals.
