SkyWest Airlines CRJ-900 Suffers Tire Blowout on Departure Grand Rapids

A SkyWest Airlines CRJ-900, operating flight DL4095 to Minneapolis for Delta, suffered a tire blowout on departure from Grand Rapids (GRR) on 11 July.

A SkyWest Airlines Bombardier CRJ-900 operating a scheduled service from Grand Rapids, MI to Minneapolis, MN suffered a tyre blowout on departure on 11 July 2024.

SkyWest Airlines flight DL4095, being performed on behalf of Delta Air Lines, had conducted a departure from RWY 26L Gerald R Ford International Airport (GRR).

During the takeoff roll, the aircraft reportedly blew a tire. Following the departure, the aircraft continued with the scheduled service to Minneapolis Saint Paul International Airport (MSP).

The flight subsequently landed at the destination airport without further incident.

An FAA report following the flight confirmed that a tyre had blown it during the departure from GRR airport.

It noted that the post flight inspection of the aircraft revealed damage to the inboard flaps. The report did not confirm which landing gear tyre was blown during the takeoff incident.

Flight data shows that the DL4095 regional service had made an on-time departure out of Grand Rapids at 1555 local time on 11 July.

The flight then proceeded normally, climbing to flight level FL280 (28,000 feet) for the north-westerly service to Minneapolis.

The aircraft conducting the DL4095 rotation on behalf of delta air lines was a Bombardier CRJ-900, registered N840SK.

This is a 3.4 year old regional jet belonging to the US carrier SkyWest Airlines. It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery in February 2021.

Notably, this aircraft was the final Bombardier CRJ aircraft to be produced.
