Six people on board a Turkish Airlines flight operating from Istanbul to Taipei, Taiwan suffered minor injuries when the flight encountered turbulence on 5 September 2024.
Turkish airlines flight TK24, a Boeing 777-300 arriving from Istanbul Airport, encountered the turbulence approximately 2 hours before landing at Taipei Taoyuan International Airport.

A spokesperson for the airline confirmed on social media that flight TK24 experienced turbulence associated with adverse weather conditions as it approached the Taiwanese capital.
Four passengers and two crew members sustained minor injuries as a result of the in-flight incident. Medical teams met the aircraft upon arrival and administered initial medical treatment. No serious injuries were sustained, but to passengers were transferred to hospital at their request.
The flight was carrying a complement of 17 crew members and 214 passengers.

Flight data shows that flight TK24 made an on-time departure out of Istanbul airport at 0200 local time on 5 September. The flight then set course normally, climbing to flight level FL340 (34,000 feet) for the easterly service to Taipei.
The aircraft encountered turbulence during its transit through Chinese airspace at cruising altitude, approximately 2 hours before its arrival into Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE).
The aircraft conducting the TK24 service from Istanbul was a Boeing 777-300ER, registered TC-JJE. This is a 14 year old wide-body aircraft belonging to the national carrier Turkish Airlines.
It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in October 2010.
