A Singapore Airlines Airbus A380 was involved in a ground incident at Delhi airport on Monday night after pilots reportedly forgot to engage a parking brake. The oversight resulted in the aircraft rolling back on the sloped bay. The problem was quickly rectified when flight crew realised the error, however one cabin crew member suffered minor bruising in the event.
Singapore Airlines flight SQ406, operated by an Airbus A380, had arrived in New Delhi from Singapore around 8 PM local time on Monday, 25 November.

After being docked at the parking bay, the aircraft rolled back at around 8:14 PM. The pilots then applied the parking brake and no damage to the aircraft or surrounding structures were sustained.
After the aircraft was made secure, the flight crew informed air traffic control of the incident. Ground staff then towed the aircraft back to the designated parking bay.
Passengers were still aboard the aircraft at the time of the incident and waiting to disembark. Apart from the crewmember who suffered a minor bruise to the thigh, no other injuries were reported.
According to the local news source Times of India, the affected cabin crewmember received medical attention and was subsequently cleared to return to duty.
The parking bay is built with a slight slope to ensure that collected water flows clear to the apron during rainy periods.
Singapore Airlines confirmed the ground incident in a subsequent statement. SIA confirmed that all passengers aboard the aircraft were disembarked normally with no resultant injuries. The airline apologised for inconvenience caused by the incident. It reinforced that the safety of its customers and crew always remains its top priority.
