SAS Showcases July 2024 Figures

August 7, saw SAS release their July 2024 traffic figures, showcasing a steady growth when compared to previous years.

This article will cover the details surrounding SAS July 2024 traffic figures and what this means for the Scandinavian operator.

SAS’ July 2024 Figures

During July 2024, SAS carried a total of 2.5 million passengers. This meant that compared to July 2023, SAS has seen a 5% increase in 2024. This is helped by the fact that they have also increased their overall capacity by 4%.

Accompanying this, the operator saw a load factor of 87%, a 1.7 percentage point increase over the same period in 2023. It is also worth noting that 75.4% of their flights were on-time.

The following is a breakdown of the carrier’s RPK (Revenue Passenger Kilometers) and ASK (Available Seat Kilometers) –

  • Intercontinental
    • RPK was up 6.8% compared to July 2023.
    • ASK was up 5% compared to July 2023.
  • Europe/Intra-Scandinavia
    • RPK was up 13.3% compared to July 2023.
    • ASK was up 9.9% compared to July 2023.
  • Domestic
    • RPK was down by 8.6% compared to July 2023.
    • ASK was down 11.1% compared to July 2023.

Firstly, commenting on their successful July 2024, Anko van der Werff, President and Chief Executive Officer at SAS, says. “We are pleased to see a continued increase in passenger volumes and a regularity rate of 99.3 percent in July. The load factor exceeded 87 percent, which marks one of SAS’ best months historically in terms of load factor.”

“This month, we also announced broad partnership agreements with our future SkyTeam partner, Air France-KLM. This partnership will improve our connectivity and offer additional benefits to our loyal customers from September 1.”
