SAS is transforming the flying experience by rolling out complimentary high-speed internet access across its fleet. The service will be provided by SpaceX‘s Starlink, the pioneering low Earth orbit satellite network.
Passengers in every class will be able enjoy premium-quality internet connectivity at no additional cost. The comprehensive fleet installation will commence in late 2025, with EuroBonus members among the first to experience this enhanced service.
Breaking New Ground in Connectivity
Starlink’s advanced satellite network delivers consistent internet coverage worldwide, conquering traditional connectivity challenges in remote areas.
The system maintains strong performance over historically difficult regions including the North Pole, Atlantic Ocean, and North Sea.
Here, conventional satellite services often struggle to provide reliable connections. This breakthrough technology ensures passengers maintain robust internet access even in areas previously considered connectivity dead zones.
“This technology represents a quantum leap in passenger connectivity,” explains Paul Verhagen, Chief Commercial Officer at SAS. “We’re eliminating connectivity gaps and setting a new standard for in-flight internet.”
“Our passengers will experience consistently robust connections whether crossing the Atlantic or navigating the North Sea. This enhancement reflects our commitment to delivering superior service and maintaining SAS’s position as an industry leader in passenger experience innovation.”

Seamless Connectivity from Boarding
The new system will provide true gate-to-gate connectivity, enabling passengers to stay connected from boarding through landing.
This is a significant upgrade from current systems that only function during cruising altitude. This continuous connection ensures travelers can maintain productivity and entertainment without interruption during critical phases of flight.
Jason Fritch, SpaceX Vice President of Starlink Enterprise Sales, offers his comments. “Bringing high-performance internet to the entire SAS fleet marks an exciting milestone in elevating the passenger and crew experience.”
“We’re particularly proud that Starlink delivers home-comparable connectivity even in traditionally challenging areas like the Atlantic, North Sea, and North Pole. This achievement demonstrates our commitment to revolutionizing in-flight connectivity.”
“This advancement fundamentally changes air travel,” Verhagen continues. “Gate-to-gate connectivity represents more than an upgrade – it’s a complete transformation in how travelers can stay connected.
“Whether for work, entertainment, or staying in touch, passengers now enjoy unlimited digital access throughout their journey, enhancing both productivity and leisure time in the air.”

Advanced Technology Meets Sustainability
The Starlink aeroterminal design prioritizes aerodynamic efficiency and reduced weight, aligning with SAS’s commitment to sustainable aviation practices. These innovative terminals minimize drag and fuel consumption, contributing to the airline’s broader environmental initiatives while delivering superior connectivity performance.
Enhanced User Experience
The system accommodates simultaneous connections from multiple devices, allowing passengers to seamlessly use their smartphones, tablets, and laptops without performance degradation.
This capability ensures that all passengers can enjoy high-speed internet simultaneously, whether they’re streaming entertainment, conducting video calls, or managing important work tasks.
Business travelers will particularly benefit from the ability to maintain productive workflow throughout their journey. Meanwhile, leisure travelers can enjoy uninterrupted access to streaming services, social media, and communication platforms.
The service quality matches or exceeds what many users experience in their homes or offices, making time in the air as connected as time on the ground.
Implementation of the free high-speed Wi-Fi service will begin in late 2025, with the rollout expected to proceed systematically across the entire SAS fleet, ensuring consistent service quality across all routes and aircraft types.
