A San Marino Executive Aviation Airbus A300-600F operating a freight service from Frankfurt to Tel Aviv diverted to Ljubljana, Slovenia with a technical problem on 1 October 2024.
San Marino Executive Aviation flight LY822 was en route from Frankfurt am Main Airport to Tel Aviv when the incident occurred.

Whilst en route in cruising flight near Slovenia, flight crew reported a generator problem. They then issued a PAN PAN emergency call.
Flight crew decided to make a precautionary diversion to nearby Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU). Prior to its landing at the diversion airport, the aircraft entered a holding pattern. This was conducted to the south east of Ljubljana to facilitate fuel dumping.
The aircraft then landed without further incident on runway 30 Jože Pučnik Airport, just over one hour after the diversion was made.
Flight Details
Available flight data shows that flight LY822 made a delayed departure out of Frankfurt am Main International Airport (FRA) at 0933 local time on 1 October. Scheduled departure time for the service was listed as 0830 local time.
The flight had then proceeded normally, climbing to flight level FL310 (31,000 feet) for the south-easterly service to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion Airport (TLV).
The precautionary diversion was subsequently made from cruising flight approximately 80 nautical miles to the north-west of Ljubljana.
The aircraft conducting the LY822 service on behalf of El Al was an Airbus A300-600F, registered T7-ASK. This is a 30.5 year old converted freighter aircraft belonging to the carrier San Marino Executive Aviation.
It has been in operational service with the operator since October 2019. Prior to its current service it passed through the hands of China Southern Airlines from May 2004. Originally operated in passenger configuration, it subsequently underwent conversion to cargo configuration in November 2008.
