Ryanair will launch the new flights between London Stansted and Linz on October 28 this year.

It is understood there will be four weekly flights (two return flights each).

The Irish low-cost carrier believes they are filling the gap that German carrier Lufthansa have left behind.

This was through the discontinuing of such services from the Austrian airport.

Furthermore, it is expected that this new route will boost incoming traffic to the region.

Norbert Draskovits, the Managing Director of Linz Airport had this to say on the planned flights:

“We are very pleased that Ryanair has added Linz Airport to its flight program again.”

“With London-Stansted we can offer the Upper Austrian market an interesting city destination and are also connected to one of the largest European travel markets.”

“We hope that the route proves itself and that we can subsequently talk to Ryanair about expanding our cooperation.”

Also commenting on the new London Stansted-Linz flights was Andreas Gruber of Ryanair:

“As Europe’s No. 1 airline, we are pleased to announce our new flights at Linz Airport this winter with four flights per week (two return flights each) on our London-Stansted route from October 28th”.

“We offer lower prices and better connections to residents/visitors of Upper Austria who previously had no alternative to Lufthansa’s inflated flight prices.”

“Linz is the second new Austrian airport where Ryanair has started operations in the last two years, underlining our continued commitment and investment in Austria.”

“Our presence in Linz, which complements our existing operations in Klagenfurt, Salzburg and Vienna, will not only offer competitive pricing, but also important regional development through better connectivity to a major European city, inbound traffic and local job creation support.”

“We look forward to further expanding our partnership with Linz Airport and welcoming our customers on board our Ryanair flights to/from Linz as we continue to grow to 300 million passengers per year by 2034.”

In conclusion, this is big news for Linz Airport as they acquire a key market in their portfolio.

Furthermore, it is clear that Ryanair is trying to capitalise on what they deem to be bad decisions by Lufthansa and other high-cost airlines.

Looking ahead, all eyes will be on launch day to see how the route performs.

But for now, all we can do is sit back and wait for launch day.
