Ryanair Flight Glasgow-Malaga Declares Emergency

Ryanair flight FR655 from Glasgow to Malaga has declared an emergency with squawk code 7700 and is currently diverting to Dublin

A Ryanair flight operating from Glasgow to Malaga has declared an emergency whilst en route.

Ryanair flight FR655 has squawked transponder code 7700 and is now effecting a diversion to Dublin Airport (DUB).

Having declared an emergency whilst still outbound over the United Kingdom, the flight is now continuing to expedite a diversion to Dublin.

The nature of the problem prompting the unscheduled diversion is not yet known.

Ryanair flight FR655, a Boeing 737-800 from Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK), is now maintaining 6,000 feet. The flight is continuing its approach to the diversion airport Dublin (DUB).

Weather for the flight’s arrival to Dublin this morning is instrument meteorological conditions (IFR). Expected inflight conditions are 8 kilometres visibility and 600 foot cloud ceiling, with light rain.

Flight FR655 is currently in a holding pattern at 6,000 feet, to the north of Dublin Airport (DUB).

Flight data shows that Ryanair flight FR655 maintained 6,000 feet altitude after departure out of Glasgow Prestwick (PIK) before squawking code 7700 earlier this morning. The aircraft made an on-time departure out of Glasgow earlier this morning at 08:43 local time.

The flight still remains in a holding pattern at 6,000 feet for its diversion to Dublin.

Ryanair flight FR655 has exited the holding pattern and is continuing an approach for Dublin, descending through 4,000 feet.

The aircraft conducting today’s FR655 rotation out of Glasgow for Malaga is a Boeing 737-800 registered EI-DLI. This is an 18-year narrowbody aircraft belong to the carrier Ryanair.

Flight FR655 now established on finals for Dublin (DUB). It is understood that emergency vehicles are on-hand to meet the aircraft on arrival.
