Ryanair Flight FR10 Dublin-Madrid Declares Emergency

Ryanair flight FR10, a B737-800 bound for Madrid, has declared an emergency and is returning to Dublin at reduced altitude.

A Ryanair Boeing 737-800 outbound to Madrid from Dublin has declared an emergency and is returning to Dublin.

Ryanair flight FR10 declared an emergency with transponder code 7700, before descending to 8,000 feet and conducting a direct return to Dublin Airport.

Having declared the emergency whilst off the south coast of Ireland enroute to Madrid, flight FR10 has descended to 8,000 feet and is continuing a return to Dublin. The reduced cruising altitude may suggest a pressurization problem, though this has not yet been confirmed. Flight crew conducted an emergency descent from cruising level FL370, before initiating the diversion.

Approach to Dublin (DUB)


Having conducted a return to the origin airport, flight FR10 has now conducted further descent from 8,000 feet for an approach to Dublin Airport.

Weather for the flight’s return is IFR, with visibility 10 kilometres or more and cloud base 800 feet. The active runways are currently RWY 28 and 34.

10:15 UTC:

Flight FR10 is now establishing on long finals, passing through 2,000 feet on its approach to Dublin. Flight crew have maintained the emergency transponder code 7700 for priority.

10:25 UTC: Landed Dublin (DUB)


Having declared an emergency whilst outbound to Madrid earlier this morning, Ryanair flight FR10 has now landed at Dublin Airport and vacated the active runway.

Flight Details


Flight data shows that Ryanair flight FR10 made its initial departure from Dublin airport at 0822 UTC this morning.

The flight had set course normally, climbing to flight level FL370 (37,000 feet) for the service to Madrid, Spain. Having transited the Irish mainland, the flight then conducted an emergency descent from cruising altitude to 8000 feet.

Having established that the reduced altitude, flight crew then negotiated a direct return to Dublin. Transponder code 7700 was squawked at 1030 UTC, with the flight established on a return track.

The aircraft conducting the FR10 service to Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) was a Boeing 737-800, registered EI-EBD. This is a 15.8 year old narrowbody aircraft belonging to the carrier Ryanair. It has been in operational service with the airline since its initial delivery from the factory in February 2009.
