Milan Bergamo Airport: Gateway to Northern Italy
Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY), also known as Orio al Serio International Airport, is a major transportation hub in northern Italy.
It serves the metropolitan area of Milan, alongside Linate Airport and Malpensa Airport. While not located directly in Milan itself, Bergamo Airport offers convenient access to the city and surrounding regions.
Situated near the city of Bergamo and within easy reach of Milan, the airport provides access to various cultural and historical attractions.
Additionally, its proximity to major highways allows for convenient onward travel to other parts of northern Italy.
A Hub for Low-Cost Travel
Bergamo Airport is a favorite among budget travelers. It serves as a base for Ryanair, offering a wide range of domestic and international destinations at competitive fares.
Passengers can choose from a variety of airlines, making it a convenient starting point for exploring Italy and beyond.
A Long-Term Partnership
Giovanni Sanga, President of SACBO, the management company of Milan Bergamo Airport, expressed his delight at the achievement.
“Surpassing 140 million passengers to and from Milan Bergamo Airport signifies a highly successful partnership.”
“Together, we’ve established a business and operational model that serves as a benchmark for the air travel industry, benefiting both airport managers and travelers.”
Sanga highlighted SACBO’s ongoing investment in cutting-edge infrastructure and services that cater to the evolving needs of airlines and passengers.
Recent improvements include a new taxiway in the airport’s north area, with further expansions planned for the check-in and security check areas in the terminal, slated for completion before the 2026 Winter Olympics.
This dedication to continuous improvement reflects the strong synergy and shared vision between Ryanair and Milan Bergamo Airport.
This has consistently driven network expansion and service quality enhancements. Sanga concluded by emphasizing the positive feedback consistently received from passengers, a testament to the enduring strength of this collaboration.
