Royal Air Maroc, Morocco’s national carrier, is set to extend its international presence with the launch of two strategic direct air routes.

The airline will introduce a new connection between Casablanca and Toronto, Canada, while also reinstating its direct service from Casablanca to Beijing, China.

These expansions further Royal Air Maroc’s focus on strengthening its international network and catering to diverse passenger needs.

New Direct Route: Casablanca to Toronto

Beginning December 8, 2024, Royal Air Maroc will inaugurate a thrice-weekly direct service between Casablanca and Toronto.

Operating on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, the flights will depart Casablanca at 4:45 PM local time. They arrive in Toronto at 7:25 PM local time. The return flights then leave Toronto at 9:30 PM local time. This return service touches down in Casablanca at 10:50 AM the following day.

This new route significantly bolsters Royal Air Maroc’s presence in the Americas. It complements the airline’s existing direct flights from Casablanca to major cities.

Current North American destinations include Montreal, New York, Washington, Miami, and São Paulo. The Toronto service will utilize the airline’s state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliners, known for their fuel efficiency and passenger comfort.

Hamid Addou, President and CEO of Royal Air Maroc, highlighted the importance of this new route. “The Casablanca-Toronto connection primarily addresses the strong demand from Moroccans living in Canada, particularly in Ontario.”

“It enhances our significant existing offer, which includes the historic Casablanca-Montreal route operating since 1975 with two daily flights. This expansion will provide even greater convenience and comfort to our compatriots in Canada.”

Reinstating the Casablanca-Beijing Route

In addition to the Toronto service, Royal Air Maroc is set to resume its direct Casablanca-Beijing route.

Initially launched in January 2020 but suspended shortly after due to the global health crisis, this service will recommence on January 20, 2025. The airline will operate three weekly flights on this route.

Flights from Casablanca to Beijing will depart on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 3:15 PM local time, arriving at Beijing International Airport at 10:50 AM local time the following day.

Return flights from Beijing will operate on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, departing at 12:50 PM local time and landing in Casablanca at 8:15 PM local time.

The Casablanca-Beijing service will utilize Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, featuring 302 seats, including 26 in Business Class.

This route is expected to play a crucial role in developing Moroccan tourism, with an anticipated 80% of traffic comprising foreign tourists.

Mr. Addou gave further comment on the route’s reinstatement. “We are delighted to resume the first direct route connecting Morocco and China. This long-awaited service will further strengthen economic and trade relations between our two countries.”
