Riyadh Air & Singapore Airlines Sign Commercial Deal

At the IATA AGM in Dubai this week, Riyadh Air and Singapore Airlines signed a MoU to establish a commercial partnership.

The Saudi Arabia-based carrier has been busy at the AGM over the course of this week.

The Deal Between Riyadh Air & Singapore Airlines…


At the IATA AGM in Dubai this week, Riyadh Air and Singapore Airlines signed a MoU to establish a commercial partnership.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding signed, Riyadh Air & Singapore Airlines will explore interlining/codesharing agreements.

This will come in the form of:

  • Reciprocal benefits for frequent flyer programs.
  • Cargo services.
  • Customer experience
  • Digital innovation.

It is clear that Riyadh Air is trying to get global connectivity established ahead of their launch next year.

Significant Benefits Unlocked for Both Sides…

Tony Douglas, the CEO of Riyadh Air had this to say on the agreement with Singapore Airlines:

“Our strategic partnership with Singapore Airlines unlocks significant benefits for our future guests as it grows our network in partnership with the World’s Best Airline.”

“We see huge potential for strong connectivity in South East Asia and both Australia and New Zealand through the award-winning hub at Singapore Changi Airport, while also providing opportunities for westbound passengers to connect across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Middle East region on Riyadh Air.”

“This relationship is a meaningful and deep cooperation that starts with a wide-ranging codeshare agreement and is expected to include a broad range of areas including digital and technology, loyalty and cargo.”

Adding to this was Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer, Singapore Airlines:

“This win-win strategic partnership with Riyadh Air will enable us to offer even more options, enhanced connectivity, and greater benefits to our customers.”

“Together, we can facilitate the growth of passenger travel between Saudi Arabia and Singapore, and beyond, via our respective networks, supporting both tourism and business links.”

“The MoU will also allow us to find ways to work together to enhance customer experience and cargo services, and harness digital tools and solutions, potentially bringing greater benefits to both airlines in the future.”

In conclusion, this deal with Singapore Airlines reflects another big step for the Saudi Arabian carrier.

The airline is approaching the stage now where commercial deals need to be signed before launch in 2025.

Furthermore, there will no doubt be more announcements made at the Farnborough Air Show next month.

But for now, it’s full steam ahead for the airline ahead of launch day in 2025.
