Rise Air, the Canadian regional carrier, has secured lease agreements with Nordic Aviation Capital for two new ATR 72-600 aircraft.

These 68-seat regional aircraft will join the airline’s fleet in 2026, marking a significant expansion in the company’s operational capabilities and commitment to modernization.

Rise Air ATR 72-600 Acquisitions

This fleet expansion follows Rise Air’s earlier announcement in November 2024 to purchase their first ATR 72-600. “This is another significant step for Rise Air,” said Derek Nice, President and CEO.

“It further strengthens our large aircraft fleet strategy, which focuses on the ATR 72 platform.” The strategic decision to standardize their fleet around the ATR 72 demonstrates Rise Air’s long-term vision for sustainable growth and operational efficiency.

Replacement for Older ATR 42-300

The new aircraft will replace Rise Air’s older ATR 42-300 models, representing a substantial upgrade in technology and capacity.

Nice emphasized that these modern planes bring enhanced technology, improved reliability, passenger comfort, and better operational efficiency.

The transition to newer aircraft also aligns with growing industry demands for more environmentally conscious aviation solutions.

Nordic Aviation Capital’s President and CEO Norman C.T. Liu expressed confidence in the partnership. “Rise Air has demonstrated a clear vision for future growth. We believe their business plan will yield positive results.”

Liu also highlighted their position as the first lessor to bring ATR 72-600s to Canada, calling the aircraft “ideal for future growth in the Canadian market.” This partnership between Rise Air and Nordic Aviation Capital represents a significant milestone in Canadian regional aviation.

The modernization of the regional airline’s fleet comes at a crucial time for regional aviation in Canada, as communities increasingly rely on dependable air transportation services.

The enhanced capacity and efficiency of the ATR 72-600 aircraft will enable Rise Air to better serve its routes while reducing operational costs and environmental impact.
