Ontario International Airport (ONT) is preparing for its busiest Thanksgiving season ever. Passenger numbers are now expected to exceed last year’s record-breaking figures.
The surge in travel reflects the airport’s growing popularity and its vital role in Southern California‘s transportation network.
Busiest Days for ONT
Between November 22 and December 2, the airport expects to welcome 225,000 travelers. This is a firm 5.8% increase from the previous year.
The anticipated peak travel days show just how busy the airport will be during this holiday period. December 1 is expected to be the busiest day, with 23,818 passengers moving through the terminals.
Following closely behind, November 24 will see approximately 22,465 travelers. Then, November 25 is projected to handle 22,448 passengers.
“We’re thrilled to welcome a record number of travelers this Thanksgiving,” says Atif Elkadi, CEO of the Ontario International Airport Authority.
“This milestone showcases our ongoing growth and passenger confidence. We’re fully prepared to provide everyone with the seamless, welcoming experience they’ve come to expect from us.”
Airlines Boost Capacity
Airlines have responded enthusiastically to this increased demand by significantly boosting their capacity. The current schedule offers over 280,000 seats on arriving and departing flights. This represents a substantial 7.5% increase compared to last year.
This expansion demonstrates the aviation industry’s confidence in ONT’s growth potential and operational capabilities.
Recommendations for Travelers
To ensure all passengers enjoy a stress-free journey during this busy period, airport officials strongly recommend that travelers plan their trips well in advance.
Arriving at the airport with plenty of extra time on travel days can make a significant difference in reducing stress and ensuring a smooth experience.
Additionally, passengers who haven’t yet enrolled in TSA PreCheck should consider taking advantage of the new CLEAR/TSA PreCheck registration service, conveniently available in both terminals.
“The growing trust from our airline partners and passengers means everything to us,” Elkadi adds. “We’re ready to serve even more travelers as we head into the holiday season, maintaining our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.”
