Qatar Airways, crowned World’s Best Airline by Skytrax in 2024, announces news of interest to those seeking Mediterranean adventures.
Starting July 2, 2025, the airline will launch four weekly flights to Malta, expanding its European network to nearly 50 destinations. This strategic addition strengthens Qatar Airways’ position as a leading global carrier connecting East and West.
Travelers from Asia-Pacific regions including Australia, China, India, Japan, and the Philippines can now book their Mediterranean getaway through Qatar Airways’ connection service.
Doha to Malta Direct
Flying through the Skytrax-awarded World’s Best Airport 2024, Hamad International Airport, passengers will experience world-class facilities before landing at Malta International Airport. From there, they can explore the UNESCO World Heritage city of Valletta and the stunning sister islands of Gozo and Comino, each offering unique Mediterranean charm.
For Maltese travelers, this new route opens doors to over 170 global destinations through Qatar Airways’ extensive network.
The airline currently operates 42 weekly flights to Australia, with connectivity set to improve further through a proposed partnership with Virgin Australia, pending regulatory approval. This collaboration will enhance travel options for passengers from both regions, creating seamless journey possibilities.

Strengthened European Network

Exploring Valletta and Mdina
Valletta, Malta’s capital, showcases 450 years of history through its stunning Baroque architecture and well-preserved fortifications.

In Mdina, Malta’s former capital, visitors step back 4,000 years through perfectly preserved medieval and Rococo architecture.
Known as the “Silent City,” its narrow streets and ancient walls offer a glimpse into Malta’s fascinating past. Game of Thrones fans will recognize it as King’s Landing from the hit series, adding another layer of interest for contemporary travelers.
