Qatar Airways Cargo Named Launch Customer for Mammoth Freighters 777-200LRMF

Qatar Airways Cargo has been named as the launch customer for the Mammoth Freighters 777-200LRMF freighter, signing a deal with Texas-based Jetran for 5 aircraft.

Qatar Airways Cargo has been named as the launch customer for the Mammoth Freighters 777-200LRMF freighter.

The Middle East carrier has signed a deal with Jetran, LLC, a Texas-based aviation services leader, for five freighter aircraft.

This further strengthens Qatar Airways Cargo’s role as the world’s top air freight carrier, expanding its ability to meet global trade demands with premium cargo services.

Mark Drusch, Chief Officer Cargo at Qatar Airways Cargo, spoke about the deal. “As the launch customer for the Mammoth 777-200LRMF, we’re proud to lead the air freight industry.”

“These new freighters will boost our fleet’s capacity, helping us grow our unmatched global network and deliver exceptional service to customers worldwide.”

The addition of these aircraft reinforces Qatar Airways Cargo’s position in operating the largest freighter fleet in the industry.

Recent Proving Flight


Mammoth Freighters LLC recently celebrated a major achievement with the successful test flight of its 777-200LRMF prototype, registered as N705DN.

The flight followed an lengthy conversion process at Aspire MRO’s facility in Fort Worth, Texas. This prototype showcases the aircraft’s advanced design, built to redefine efficiency and performance in the long range widebody freighter market.

Bill Tarpley, CEO of Mammoth, highlighted the significance of the flight milestone. “This test flight marks years of hard work, innovation, and teamwork.”

“Our goal is to deliver a highly productive and cost-effective freighter, and this achievement proves we’re on the right path. We’re thrilled to have Qatar Airways Cargo as our launch customer, a testament to the aircraft’s long-term value.”

Jetran’s CEO, Jordan Jaffe, added further comment. “Watching the 777-200LRMF’s first test flight was inspiring. The aircraft performed beyond expectations, confirming Mammoth’s engineering expertise.”

The Mammoth 777-200LRMF features a cutting edge Collins Aerospace cargo loading system, tailored for the 777 passenger-to-freighter conversion.

Developed over three years, this system ensures reliability and parts commonality, qualities already proven in 777 production freighters globally.

Currently, Mammoth has seven 777-200/-300 aircraft in conversion—five at Aspire MRO in Texas and two at STS Aviation Services in Manchester, UK. The company has secured 35 firm orders for freighter conversions from various customers.
