Qatar Airways is set to introduce a new route to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) starting December 11, 2024.

The service will feature three weekly non-stop flights from Hamad International Airport (DOH), voted the World’s Best Airport. This expansion highlights Qatar Airways’ commitment to the North American market, becoming the fourteenth regional destination.

Toronto: Second Canadian Gateway

The new Toronto route marks Qatar Airways’ fourteenth gateway to the Americas and second Canadian destination. It joins Montréal, which has served over 1.6 million passengers through seven daily flights to and from Montréal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) since its launch.

The addition of Toronto as a destination reflects the growing demand for travel between Canada and the Middle East. It also sees the increasing importance of Qatar as a global transit hub.

Boeing 777 Operations

The Toronto service will use Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. These planes boast 42 award-winning Qsuite Business Class seats and 312 Economy Class seats. T

he Qsuite, Qatar Airways’ signature business class product, offers a first-class experience in a business class cabin, featuring private suites with doors and the option to create double beds in some middle sections.

Travelers from Canada and beyond will gain access to Qatar Airways’ extensive global network. Popular destinations include Colombo (CMB), Bangkok (BKK), Delhi (DEL), Kathmandu (KTM), and Mumbai (BOM). This allows for convenient connections to South Asia and Southeast Asia.

Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, Qatar Airways Group CEO, gave his thoughts on the route addition. “The Toronto route shows our strong commitment to providing Canadian customers with better connectivity and access to our world-leading service and Qsuite in-flight product.”

“Adding a fourteenth gateway to our Americas network also proves our aim to maintain a key presence in the local market and solidifies our reputation as a reliable global connector.”

Qatar Airways’ Canadian Presence

This expansion is expected to boost tourism and business ties between Canada and Qatar, as well as facilitate easier travel for the large expatriate communities in both countries.

Voted the World’s Best Airline by Skytrax in 2024, Qatar Airways has supported Canada significantly over the years. The airline has contributed to critical diplomatic efforts on several challenging issues.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Qatar Airways also helped repatriate thousands of Canadians by establishing an air bridge. This demonstration of support during difficult times has strengthened the relationship between Qatar Airways and the Canadian market.

Qatar Airways currently serves over 170 global destinations, connecting through its Doha hub, Hamad International Airport (DOH).

The airline continues to expand its network to offer passengers the most luxurious travel experience worldwide. With its state-of-the-art fleet and commitment to customer service, the carrier aims to set new standards in global air travel.
